Oh Hitler, you fancy man
Ok, ok... not posted for a while but Film Tube is still running. Just look over to the right and all upcoming gig days are listed. So, what have I been up. Well, since my last post there has been another Film Tube, I fractured a rib, been electrocuted and hit the grand age of 30. Not all at the same time. That would be a right mess.
So, we have another Film Tube tomorrow (Wednesday the 19th). The theme has changed to "THE HORROR, OH THE HORROR... and Hitler". I'm not saying any more than that. Work it out and see y'all at Sandbar, 8pmish.

Film Tube: A Summer Holiday... Not With Cliff Richard
Yup, you know the deal. Blah blah blah.
Clips and shit from the furthest depths of the net. And it's August, thus Summer is buggering off... little time remains for Summer girlfriend. In the meantime procrastinate and lament at Film Tube.

So, tomorrow at Sandbar, 31st Wednesday, 8pmish. Be there and stuff!

And that's the way I roll, Cliff. That's the way I roll.
So another Film Tube down, albeit a quiet one. Neverthenless the show went on. Their was a myriad of Nyanish clips, singing skulls from Han Hoogerbrugge's music video for The Young Punx as well a cat bravely sacrificing his life for the safety of his platoon (may you rest in peace Private Meowkins).
So, whats next? Well, probably should actually start doing so promo maybe. Other from that... the next Film Tube which shall be along the theme of <insert drum roll here> ......
A SUMMER HOLIDAY... not with Cliff Richard
Yup that's right. Last Wednesday of August on the 31st we shall be basking in all things summery. Cliff Richard won't be there. But he will. But won't. It'll make sense on the night. Maybe.
Righty, other work stuff to do. If you like Film Tube please spread the word. I'll be able to print less flyers then.

That's right kids... Film Tube tomorrow...
Well, the idea of a Film Tube disco has gone a bit south. I've been trying out a few ideas with some DJ events and will be holding off the disco thing until I have the suitable software for it (and a laptop that doesn't scream electronic signals).Tomorrows Film Tube will however still be taking place. I think there was a theme apart from disco? Muh, doesn't matter. So, 8pmish my friends at Sandbar. Tomorrow, as in this Wednesday.
Toodles.

Attention Zombie Lovers
Yesterday I posted some links to some interesting flash games and experiments. However, after I did the post I realised there was one project I left out.
I've always been a zombie fan... well... not zombies really but a fan of horror which captures that claustrophobic feel of a encroaching menace surrounding the protagonists. This doesn't have to be zombies to portray this kind of horror. Geiger's Aliens, Hitchcock's birds... hell, even the Triffids meet this definition.
Within games this horror has been lost. Situations aren't so much a case of life and death due to generous saves systems, to get out a hairy situations you just need to swing an uzi around with infinite bullets and the worse sin within zombie horror is that nothing has long term consequences (e.g. a bite)
I chat occasionally to a friend of mine, who like me, have a whimsical love of games. We often chat about the "perfect" zombie game. We worked out it would have the following features:
And you know what... not only is one team making this now, but two separate teams on two separate projects!
The first there is very little information apart from a few screenshots and a FAQ, swing over to Doublebear Productions to find out more. The second project interests me a bit more, if not only for the fact it's more grim.
Project Zomboid is being developed by a team of four. Their intention is create a game about "How you died". They've released a pre-Alpha tech demo where you play as a middle aged, balding man three days into the zombie outbreak. During the demo you attempt to secure a safehouse whilst taking care of your wife with a broken leg. I really don't want to say anymore past that, just have a go.
The team has some impressive goals in their sights, and they are offering people the chance to invest in the game for £5 with promises of free updates leading up the release similar to Minecraft or Terraria. So, if you like it... perhaps take a risk and invest in what could be an awesome grim little game/story.
Oh, and one last thing - this is the last game link post I'm going to do for a while (this blogs is more about videos and animations after all) but there was one last flash game I left out from yesterdays links.
SPENT is an American interactive flash game which aims to highlight unemployment issues, workers rights and minimum wages in America. They do this by putting you in the shoes of a single parent with only $1000 left. The aim? To not go broke in one month. The design and concept I personal think is stunning, head over and have a look.

- The world starting off normal, then with the zombies spreading everything slowly falls apart
- A bite would be fatal, no exceptions
- There is no "cure"
- Zombies walk, none of this running crap
- Psychological effects, paranoia, panic attacks, etc...

No Videos This Time, But GAMES To Waste Your Time
Righty... so... there was one thing I forgot to mention on here. It wasn't over, Film Tube was part of a quiz on Sunday. Some of the best parts of previous Film Tubes were shown followed by some quizzical questions of observation about them. It wasn't bad, I think some people enjoyed themselves even! I'll be posting links to the videos that were shown in the next couple of days.Anyhow, it's time to chill out now for a few hours before the madness begins again and I thought this would be an opportune time for a little idea I had.
Whilst trawling the net for videos and art it's hard to avoid all those little flash games everywhere... and I don't avoid them very well. So, let's have some fun, here's a list of the silly, beautiful, bizarre and experimental interactivery gamery I've happened across.
Please comment, like, shout if you are liking the Film Tube nights or these posts. In a bit chaps.

Back to normal... and D, I, S, C, O

Three Film Tubes
In the same month
Done
Thank God...
Well, it's back to normal now kids. Film Tube will be running the LAST WEDNESDAY each month. None of this silly multiple Film Tube-ness. Ever. Again. Also, we're changing the theme for the next one. Now on Wednesday the 27th of July you may expect the first (and probably last ever) FILM TUBE DISCO... yeah, I don't know how I think of these things. They just come to me. Yeah.

End of the world tomorrow. Followed by Kung Fu...
Ok... so it's Film Tube tomorrow. Sandbar. 8pmish... you know the drill. Theme is end of the world, blah, blah... and the day after that we have our Not Part Of special. Worth of note that during the day Drink N Draw (a comic book jam group open to all) is running events from 4pm onwards plus there's a comedy show at 8pm... with Film Tube at 9pm...ish...
Sorry to be quite quick and blunt, I'm co-ordinating half this damn 2 and a half week program at Sandbar so my time is farily limited. Sooooo to recap:
Wednesday 29th June (TOMORROW!!!) Film Tube 8pmish time and Thursday 30th of June (THE DAY AFTER) 9pmish another festival Film Tube Thing... with Kung Fu...
Oh... and here's a picture. Enjoy.

Things back to normal soon, hopefully.

Yotam Turns 20

I've already done a post for today, but I'd like to direct your attention over to an awesomely talented animator - Yotam. Last night we showed a video he did about his 18th birthday, and funnily enough he has just turned 20 today with another animation (kinda) celebrating it. Check it out, subscribe and wish him a happy birthday.
By the way, Paul, if you are reading this you click on the words that are a different colour to get to the websites I'm highlighting. They are called links. Like this one right here. Hope that's cleared it up for you.
Upcoming Film Tube Dates... and yes, I know I screwed up

Ok, ok... I done screwed up. But more of that in a minute.
First, a big thanks to everyone that came down. You were all a splendid audience and I hope you had a jolly time. I can't believe the same fellow from last month won the competition though. HE MUST BE DEFEATED... seriously though, if you are reading this - well done.......jammy sod....
ANYHOOOOO.... upcoming dates, and my screw up. Because of Film Tube leaping around there's been a slight mix up so, and I shall say this only once, even though it is printed on the flyers THERE IS NO FILM TUBE ON THE 7th OF JULY! Got it? Good.
So, when is Film Tube? Well, Gaze below my friends at the upcoming dates!
- Wednesday 29th June: The END IS NIGH
- Thursday 30th June: Not Part Of Festival Special Extravagnza with Kung Fu
- Wednesday 27th July: Pirates, Ninjas & CATS!
- Wednesday 31st August: Summer Special, not with Cliff Richard
- Wednesday 28th September: The 80's... nuff said.
- Wednesday 26th October: IT'S HALLOWEEN, muh...
- Wednesday 30th November: Battle of the sexes. With lasers, and perhaps robots.
- Tuesday 13th December: The compulsory Christmas edition
Ok... so that's it for now. Subscribe. Spread the word. Yadda, yadda. Next Film Tube is The END IS NIGH, an Apocalypse themed night - so that's everything from zombies, nuclear war and Rapture fun. Ta, ta my dears.

A word to visitors from Not Part Of from the desk of Film Tube headquarters
Hello there, and welcome to Film Tube's blog.My name is Dom Harbot. I organise and host Film Tube. That is not me to the left.
You may be asking yourself "What is Film Tube?". If not, go away. Film Tube is a video and animation showcase night for the underdogs and the forgotten. I compile a bunch of stuff from around the webs which range from the enthralling and mind blowing to the short, stupid crap which will grab your attention by slapping you across the face.
The night is organised so that if you get a bit bored or don't like a piece that is playing it is no faux pas at all to ignore whats going on and chat to your mate. No "shhhhhhh-ing" going on here. And even then, each section is 20 minutes long with no one piece longer than 10 minutes. It's a night which caters to the ADD amongst us. Also, we occasionally have a competition and / or a special guest doing a live 15 minute slot just to shake things up.
So, you Not Part Of people (and I know your looking at this page, blogger tells me on the stats page where the net traffic is coming from, yeah Big Bro is watching you! I have the tools), what can you expect on the 30th of June? Well I already have some short films and animations which are innovative and thrilling as well as a 10 second clip of a drunk man riding a pig. So come on down you lucky, lucky people.
Oh, and it's free.
Looking through the web I spy Ponies...
So, I'm looking around the web at the moment for clips, videos and all I keep seeing are these bastards:
Ponies. Little ones. My Little Ponies. Everywhere. Remixes. Dubs. I... don't get it. This is what I remember about them:

That dopey look with a head that easily pops off. Oh, and that little girls play with them. I asked on my facebook why the net is going crazy over these things and how it's got to the point it's almost a meme in it's own right. The simple answer I got back was that online people are just really into this new animation. Perhaps Ponies are this mini-generation's Power Puff Girls? I don't know. I don't get it. I don't care.
HOWEVER, out of ALL THE CRAP (I don't like Weird Al, he tries to hard in a desperate way) I've happened across this excellent physics presentation about the world of My Little Pony stands out as a gem!
I'm impressed needless to say. It's 10 minutes long and I don't feel it's suitable for Film Tube but check it out, bloody marvelous!

ONLINE FILM TUBE SPECIAL: Doomsday Edition
I think the world was supposed to end yesterday... yesterday I spent marveling at my 10 week year old daughter discovering her hands and spent the night dancing badly in a smelly club (myself, not my daughter). Nothing seemed world ending-ish last night and today it's just spitting outside (perhaps a precursor to a flood?).
Anywhichway, I thought it would be quite apt to post some links to a few doomsday / apocalypse / rapture-esque like works. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled on the blog as if this mini online version of Film Tube proves popular I just may do it again. Enjoy and happy doomsday!
And if the fires of the apocalypse do appear a bit late, here's a tune to get you through it:
Gone To Jericho - Peculiar Pretzelmen

New Dates and general updatery...
Ok, ok... so I've been a 'bit' lax in my intentions to supply all the links of the videos I've been showing. But, hey, get over it - I'm a busy fella. I will say though, if there's a video you see on the night please give me a nod and ask (during the night or on here) and I'll fill you in on all the details.
So, the most recent Film Tube was a Star Wars theme affair, and it was bloody marvelous. It had an audience! Which helps. We also had a live puppet show thanks to Mr. Pete Kennedy, Pico and his friends from Puppetual Motion. It went down so well they will be doing a semi regular slot now! Pop over to their facebook page and give them a yell.
Another change as a result of the night is that I will be doing themes for each one now. We will still show a few random videos here and there but a theme will always be skulking in the background.
Anyhow, NEW DATES... things are going a bit screwy. We WERE going to move to the 2nd Tuesday each month but due to some certain circumstances we WILL be doing the 2nd Tuesday next month AND the last Wednesday... the the last Wednesday every month. Oh and there's going to be a Not Part Of festival special in July... and a special in December too...
Got that? Good.
Ok chaps and chapettes... here are the upcoming dates and themes:
I'm sat in the office staring out of the window just thinking these things up so they may change. In fact if you can think of a theme you would like post a comment below.
Anyhow, bye people
PS. Spell check won't work so don't preach!
