Hey kids, so... I better write a proper post I guess! So, an introduction to Film Tube:
Film Tube is an event which show cases videos, animations and oddities in a casual environment. People are welcome to float in and out the event as well as chat freely amongst themselves. This is no serious, sit down and be quiet sit down affair.
As the title of the night suggests, all shown footage has been taken from YouTube. There's two main reasons for this:
1) Even though creators usually agree to show their work it is normally a near impossible task to collect the work from them due to busy schedules and unreliability (sounds harsh but considering most of these creators are working 9 - 5, supporting their family and making new films it's understandable). With a night focused around YouTube as a format, work becomes easily accessible with minimum fuss for the creators of the piece. By using sites such as YouTube or Newgrounds, work selected to showcase becomes very much more diverse. Film Tube showcases everything from artistic narrative pieces and humorous
videos to odd clips and bizarre footage.
2) The most important thing is though that Film Tube is about the little guy and the unknown. We do not showcase any viral works, commercials or mainstream media. They already have enough exposure. We hope to highlight the works of unrepresented wonders... and have a laugh at something a bit daft at the same time.
Anyhow, I better get ready. Film Tube is screening a few shorts at a larger event named Vaudeville at the greenroom. Details will be up tomorrow about what was shown as well as where you can watch a Film Tube event.
Take care kids :D
